On February 6, Tina's car was stolen from across the street from her workplace. The car was then involved in an armed robbery and when the thieves were chased down by the police, they drove into traffic colliding with other cars, as they rolled over the body of one policeman, causing another officer to shoot through the back of the car 7 times. (See news footage here.) The car is all but totaled beyond repair, and Tina's insurance refuses to provide any assistance despite her consistent monthly payments of over $200.

Tina is a hardworking woman in the field of education and like many educators, is overworked and underpaid. Due to this bizarre tragedy, she has lost thousands of dollars on a car that will cost even more than that to repair. The NOPD offers no assistance to victims of car theft. Further, her newfound immobility coupled with financial obstacles exacerbated by the car loss, has caused her to have to cancel her plans to return to college and has severely impeded her ability to help her ailing diabetic father with medical treatment.
