My brother Tim is fighting for his life — and we are asking for your prayers, support, and generosity to help carry him through. In early 2022, Tim began experiencing unexplained health issues — swelling in his legs and ankles, a distended abdomen, and growing fatigue. He was seeing doctors, trying to get to the bottom of it, never imagining how serious it would become. In October of that year, he collapsed at home and was rushed to the ER. That’s when we got the devastating diagnosis: cirrhosis, caused by nonalcoholic fatty liver disease — the leading cause of liver failure in the U.S.

Tim’s journey since then has been full of ups and downs. With the help of a liver specialist team in Oklahoma, he was able to stabilize for a short time, return to work, and maintain hope. But in April 2024, his condition worsened requiring regular hospital visits to have 9–10 liters of fluid drained from his abdomen at a time. His symptoms include decline in balance, limited mobility, mental confusion, decline in decision making, all caused by the inability of the liver to filter out toxins. These issues have made it impossible for him to work. Finally, in January 2025, Tim was officially placed on the active liver transplant list. So now we wait for a donor and a match.

And yet, even now, Tim remains Tim — upbeat, strong-willed, and determined to fight. Tim has always lived with his whole heart. He’s funny, kind, and always has a list of things he wants to accomplish. He has always poured himself 110% into everything he did — whether he’s sweating in the yard, organizing the garage, or starting a new project around the house.

For decades, he ran a successful business building custom homes, later taking on commercial renovations a few of which are within historic

spaces throughout Northwest Arkansas. His craftsmanship, passion, and integrity are literally built into the walls of his community. But this was all before liver disease. He still gets up and gets ready for the day and plans something productive to do. It may take longer to accomplish but he tries his best to complete.

He and his high school sweetheart, Cathy, have been married for 48 years. Their love and devotion have always been a foundation for their entire family. They have two daughters, Janee and Jessica, and five grandchildren who absolutely adore their “Mimi and Popsie.” Our whole

family has come together to support Tim. The financial strain has become overwhelming. Up to this point they have managed but it is becoming impossible. Tim and Cathy need immediate help covering basic living expenses while Tim waits for a transplant. Once he receives a donor liver, he’ll spend at least two months recovering in the hospital three hours from home, and Cathy will need to stay nearby to support him. That

means eight weeks of hotel stays, meals, and travel expenses, which will total over $15,000.

There will also be roughly $8,000 in immediate post-surgery costs, including medications that aren’t covered by insurance. And even after returning home, they’ll need to travel back and forth to Oklahoma for regular monitoring — another estimated $7,000 over the next year.

In total, we’re hoping to raise enough to help cover around $35,000 in critical expenses.

One thing that gives us hope — and keeps the doctors so optimistic — is that Tim, otherwise is in good health. As they often say: “He’s a completely healthy guy with a bad liver.” At 69, Tim has no secondary conditions — no high blood pressure, no cholesterol issues, no diabetes —

which is extremely rare. This makes him an excellent candidate for a successful liver transplant.
