Hi, my name is Jim, and I’m reaching out on behalf of two wonderful friends—Tim and Karen Honnick—who are facing one of the most challenging times of their lives.

In mid-May, Tim was unexpectedly hospitalized with a life-threatening case of sepsis. The infection spread rapidly, leaving him in critical condition. Since then, he’s endured several surgeries and serious complications. While he’s fighting hard, doctors estimate he’ll need at least 8 more weeks of inpatient IV antibiotics, and then an 8-12 week rehabilitation period if all goes as hoped. If the infection doesn’t fully clear after the antibiotic treatment, Tim may face even more surgeries to remove and eventually replace both knee replacements and a shoulder implant (the infection is especially stubborn in these areas), which would mean an even longer recovery and rehabilitation.

As you can imagine, beyond the emotional and physical toll, the financial burden is going to be very high. Despite having health insurance, the out-of-pocket costs for hospitalization, surgeries, medications, and physical therapy are rapidly mounting.
