We wanted to take a minute and give an update on our dad, Timothy Layman, and his current health journey. About a month ago dad wasn't feeling well so Chase took him to the ER. After several tests they found a 7 cm mass on his left kidney. The ER doctor then proceeded to tell us that dad needed to be seen by a urologist that next week and that if we were unable to get in that quickly to give him a call and he would make it happen! This, of course was a little concerning to see the urgency the doctor felt and as we all know specialists are never easy to get into quickly. Well, dad was able to get into the urologist the following Friday and it was confirmed that he has renal cell carcinoma of the left kidney (kidney cancer). The doctor is pretty confident that it has not spread, however he has ordered a PET scan just to confirm that. We do ask for prayers with the PET scan because currently his insurance has denied the PET scan so the doctor is working to get that approved. He is scheduled for surgery on December 19th to competely remove the tumor and kidney. He will be down for several weeks recovering. It is our understanding that the doctor believes that he will not have to do any further treatment after the surgery, but again this is where the PET scan will be the deciding factor for that. This is a alot we are all processing and we would really appreaciate your prayers as we face this journey ahead. If you would like to help in any way there will be a meal calendar coming after dad’s surgery that we can post and currently we have a gofund me set up to help dad cover the cost of his medical treatments and the time off he will need to take to recover. Thank you for all the prayers and support for our family.
