Support Tim Nelson's Amputation Recovery
Donation protected
Hi everyone! My name is Stephanie and I am the daughter of Tim Nelson. Some of you may have heard that my dad will be having his left leg amputated on January 2nd. Dad has dealt with Charcot Foot for the last 5-6 years. This was caused by Fabry Disease which has caused neuropathy for much of his life. Chronic neuropathy can cause Charcot Foot which causes the bones to become brittle and causes breakages. Dad’s amputation surgeon shared the best option is to complete the amputation now rather than performing it in an emergency situation. He will be hospitalized for 3-4 days and will then be transferred to inpatient rehab.
Both mom and dad will be taking time off from their jobs for this surgery and recovery process. The costs of staying in the Twin Cities will add up quickly and I wanted to create a GoFundMe to hopefully help alleviate some of the financial burdens my parents may experience in the upcoming months.
My parents have been through and supported each other through so much. From a rare disease diagnosis, brain surgery, a kidney transplant, a cancer journey, and now this. If you are interested in donating, I know my parents would be so grateful. We have received so much support over the years and will never be able to thank everyone enough.
