Tim Matney was 45 years old, born in Grundy, Va. He was a graduate of Grundy High School. He attended UVA Wise, with a major in History. He loved Ancient History, Egyptology, and Literature. He loved to travel the world, and one trip he will never forget is his trip to Giza, Egypt. Tim was also a beach lover, and Florida was his happy place. In July of this year, he made the move from Virginia to Southern Florida, and he was happier than ever.

In 2016, Tim had a heart attack, requiring him to have open-heart surgery. The next 8-9 years, he lived a happy life but was much more limited in what he could do. During this time, his heart worsened, and in November of this year, he was hospitalized due to his heart only functioning at 5% EF. His organs were starting to fail as well.

He was Med-Flighted from Fort Myers, FL to Tampa General Hospital, where he received state-of-the-art cardiac care. During the 6 days at Tampa General Hospital, he developed a massive stroke, bleeding, and his organs started to shut down.

Unfortunately, Tim passed away on November 28, 2025, at 6:33 pm.

Unfortunately, Tim did not have life insurance, requiring the burden of funeral service fees to fall upon the family. Tim's wishes were to be cremated. Tim is currently in Florida, and we plan to get his remains back to Virginia, where we will hold a Celebration of Life Event honoring his time here on earth.
