Support Tim and Shay through Tim's recovery

Donation protected
On June 8, 2025, Tim, age 46, had a major stroke that left him without any use of the leg, arm and hand on his left side. Tim was flown to Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln where he spent a week. From there, he spent the next six weeks at St. Francis inpatient rehab working to regain strength and start walking again. Then in the end of July, insurance kicked him out but he wasn't walking reguarly and there was no way Tim could come home at that time. So Tim spent the next two weeks at St. Francis skilled nursing where he began walking as much as possible to gain strength and stability needed to come home. He returned home August 12, more than two months after the stroke.

While he is now home, Tim still has a long road to recovery. He will need rehab therapy at Hastings Physical Therapy at least two times a week for the next couple of months. He needs assistance at home with getting around and getting the things he needs. He is able to walk assisted but still isn't steady enough to be left alone and be mobile.

Shay has taken on all of this along with caring for the family's three kids. While she has always been the primary caregiver of the kids while Tim works, the three kids are now in three different school buildings and have various activities they need to get to as well.

Tim's needs (at least in the short term) have put a huge burden on Shay's ability to work at her job and take care of the kids as well. As such, Shay is reducing her work hours to give Tim more attention and the care he needs to be able to get back to functioning on his own. His goal is to be back to work in November.

The financial burden is great with all of Tim's treatments, the family's travel, Tim's medical equipment and adaptive equipment needs and now the reduction in Shay's income. We are humbly asking for your support in helping Tim, Shay and thier family navigate Tim's recovery and the new normal as they move forward.

Your donations will help with:
  • Medical costs/care
  • Adaptive and assistive equipment
  • Home modifications (if needed) for accessibility
  • Travel to appointments
  • Everyday expenses due to reduced income

To anyone who has already supported the family through this time, you deserve a big thank you. The meal train, monetary donations, labor and well wishes have been appreciated beyond measure.

Whether you give a financial donation, a warm wish or a hug, the family will certainly appreciate whatever you do as part of this journey. If you would prefer to support the family directly instead of through the fundraiser, please feel free to reach out to Shay directly for more information.
