UPDATE: Tilden is responding well to
his new tube. They have FINALLY got the shots actually approved that he needs to fight his infection. However these shots are going to cost this family $2000 per shot that he needs once a week. That he will be one for at least a few months! You do that math. This is the amount after insurance. They are going to need some extra help for sure.
This family is in need of some support. Tilden, 15, lover of basketball and books, has rarely been able to attend school over the last 3 months. He has been in and out of doctors' offices trying to figure out why food won’t stay down. While hospitalized at Sanford in Sioux Falls, doctors discovered that he has eosinophilic esophagitis, a bad fungal infection in his esophagus, and a duodenal ulcer.
One of the infections could be treated by a course of shots, but they are fighting with the insurance company to get it covered. The treatment can’t be started because it is prohibitively expensive. He has received a feeding tube so they can try to get nutrients into his system.
His family has endured a lot in the last two years as Tilden’s father has just been able to start going back to work from his own medical issues. They work hard as a family and never ask for anything in return.
Mom is in Sioux Falls with him with little sister waiting to get into the Ronald McDonald housing.
These funds would go towards any medical expenses, bills, travel (as dad cannot take time off from work to go see his son in Sioux Falls right now), and anything they need to keep up with their daily needs.
