Hi, my name is Tiger Luo. I recently graduated from Duke and relocated to Utah to join USANA R&D as a summer intern. My parents traveled to the U.S. in May to attend my graduation and also accompanied me to Utah to spend some extra time together. We haven't seen each other in person for 3 years since the pandemic.
My father was a big fan of fishing. Lucky enough, there is a pond next to our apartment, and one of the things that we really enjoyed was taking a walk around the pond after dinner and watching him fish. He did not have any luck with the fish and was continuously experimenting and improving his recipe for the bait in the past 2-3 weeks. Yesterday (6/27), when he went fishing, he finally caught a big one and fought it for 10 minutes before pulling it to the shore. He then gave my mother a call, asking her to bring a container for the fish, and that was his last word before he collapsed due to myocardial infarction. The ambulance came quickly, but unfortunately, he passed away soon after.
It all happened so suddenly, making everything feel unreal. But life moves on, and the small comfort is that I was able to reconnect and create joyful memories with my father. He experienced no pain or suffering, and the last thing on his mind was sharing his excitement about finally catching the biggest fish with my mother.
As visitors, my parents did not have any insurance. We won't be hosting a funeral; instead, the funds raised will help cover the cremation and hospital bills. I am deeply grateful for any form of support.
I would also like to extend my deepest gratitude to Haojie and Jeremy, who have been incredibly supportive during these past few difficult days.
