Support Tiffany Anderson Wilkins' Battle with Breast Cancer
Donation protected
I'm sorry to share that my daughter, Tiffany Wilkins, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Unbeknownst to her, her medical insurance does not provide coverage for the necessary treatments. This challenging journey will take a toll on her physically, mentally, and financially. We are seeking your support to help her navigate this difficult time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Sandy Kerr (Tiff's mom)
The following is a Facebook post of Tiffany:
This post is a very hard one for me tonight. Some of you saw my brother Tom's post last night in frustration. I thought i would explain what's going on. I found out over a month ago that I have breast cancer. With that devastating news I also found out that my insurance through work does not cover chemo or radiation. Along with that it only allows 2 scans a year. Obviously with cancer there's more than 2 scans a year. So let me explain my journey so far
11-23-24. I did a self-exam which I would randomly do. I found a lump. I had a mammogram and then a biopsy. News was that it's cancer. My oncologist appointment went well and he made me feel so much better. Appointment with my surgeon made me feel better. They were working together as a team, and we had a plan. Then I got the call. My insurance doesn't cover chemo or radiation which I have to have both. I had appointments for all these scans which we had to cancel because my insurance only pays at a free-standing clinic. Finally got those scheduled. MRI scan found another malignant lesion in the same breast. CT scan found a lesion on my liver. I need an MRI to see if the one on the liver is cancer. My insurance only pays for 2 scans a year. My mri will be out of pocket too. So, while trying to deal with the fact that I have cancer, I'm also dealing with insurance bullshit. It's been a month in a half, and I still have no treatment happening because of all the insurance run around. I have an appointment with my oncologist team Tuesday to get it all started (and I have one hell of a good oncologist team that is going above and beyond to try to help me through all of this)
Anyways this is why some of you saw my brothers frustrated post.
My whole family has been extremely supportive, and I don't know how I would do this without them.
