Support Tiffannie's Fight Against CF and Liver Disease

Donation protected
My name is Amanda Johnson. I am Tiffannie's Mother and I am the organizer of this GoFundMe page. I developed this GoFundMe account for My Daughter to receive donations to cover her increasing medical expenses relating to her Cystic Fibrosis, Diabetes, A N D Stage 3 Liver Disease - as well as for her to meet Her and Her Husband (Alex)'s financial needs as she continues to adapt and cope with managing these new / worsening health issues and their consequences. . . To ease some of the financial burdens. . . And to hopefully eliminate some of the stress they are enduring.

BACK STORY:
Tiffannie (27) is married to her husband Alex Simpson. They currently reside in Madisonville, Tennessee (Monroe County). She is a former 2016 Sequoyah High School student, a former
A & W Restaurant and Havco Woods employee, and a current FT Pellissippi State Tech'l Comm'y College student. Tiffannie is absolutely the sweetest, most compassionate, kind-hearted, outgoing, strong-willed, dedicated, hard-working, funny young lady that just brightens every room she enters and makes everyone feel acknowledged , cared for, heard, and important. She has always been very independent, hardworking, driven, and compassionate about accomplishing the things that matters to her the most. But, sadly; sometimes "Life" sets Us on a different path than what We had in our minds and hearts and We have no choice but to adapt and make the best of it in any means possible.
For 27 long years She has battled and conquered A LOT of things. She's had to heartbreakingly accept some things in "LIFE" that would have broken anybody's spirit !!! As hard as it was - She persevered and gracefully accepted what lied ahead in 'Her Future'. She came to the realization that "Her Life" was going to be NOTHING BUT CHALLENGING But (!)... SHE CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT SHE WAS N O T going to allow A N Y thing to take over Her Life and dictate H O W Her Life was going to turn out. She vowed to fight to the very end !!!

Tiffannie was born with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). CF is a progressive, relentless, life-threatening genetic disease that affects one's kidneys, digestive system, liver, pancreas, and lungs. The extra thick mucus that CF causes coats the inside of the lungs, making it hard to breathe, and it can lead to total lung failure and the need for a double lung transplant. In order to prevent that from happening for as long as possible, many CF'rs need to do an airway clearance treatment 2-4 times a day that consists of a nebulizer paired with being hooked up to a vest machine to shake and loosen the mucus to help clear the airways and avoid developing dangerous mucus plugs as well as MRSA, Pneumonia, Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, Staphylococcus Aureus, and/or Burkholderia Cepacia Complex. As CF progresses the mucus blocks the ducts in the pancreas and causes complications with it's job of making enzymes to break down food and make hormones to regulate blood sugar levels - which leads to slow weight gain, poor growth, pancreatitis, and also CF related Diabetes. Untreated and / or poor management of CF related Diabetes CAN lead to reduced ability to fight serious lung infections, muscle and weight loss, liver disease, and kidney complications. Liver Disease IS considered the MOST SERIOUS HEALTH RISKS associated with CF. Cirrhosis of the liver makes it difficult for blood to travel theough the liver. It can cause many complications such as low blood counts, fluid buildup in the abdomen, and bleeding in the esophagus. STAGE 3 LIVER DISEASE with CF'rs IS THEE MOST ADVANCED STAGE OF LIVER DAMAGE CAUSED BY CF - characterized by severe, irreversible scarring of the liver tissue, leading to significant impairment of liver function and often causes Portal Hypertension, Ascites, and potential internal bleeding from the esophageal varices - THIS STAGE usually necessitates close monitoring (every 6 mos) and may require a Liver Transplant. CF Liver Disease IS considered thee 3rd leading cause of death, after lung disease, and transplant complications. Liver Cirrhosis in Cf'rs ALSO can develop into Liver Cancer !!! There are 40,000 individuals in the US who were born with Cystic Fibrosis. Currently, their life expectancy is between 40 & 50 years!!! 40% of individuals with CF also unfortunately have Diabetes. And of THOSE CF'rs with Diabetes 20-40% of THOSE also have Liver Cirrhosis Disease. Lamentably, Tiffannie has developed Diabetes A N D Stage 3 Liver Cirrhosis Disease, SVC Heart Occlusion, allergic reactions to ALL Sulfur drugs, MRSA, and Pseudomonas !!!
Having Cystic Fibrosis - with ALL the health issues the Disease causes alone --- an Individual has to take NUMEROUS medications, do breathing treatments throughout the day, do respiratory clearances, see their CF Team routinely ( every 3 or 6 mos ), and IF they have Diabetes and/or Liver Disease ... they are having to take even MORE medications and see their Endocrinologist and Hepatologist routinely as well. Even IF They have Insurance coverage there are A LOT of other Out - of - Pocket expenses that the Individual must pay for as
well : such as equipment and supplies for their medical care needs. It adds up VERY QUICKLY.

FEBRUARY 24 2025 :
Tiffannie fell very ill two months ago and her CF team had tried four different oral antibiotics back to back to help her over that time frame, but instead of improving; she became worse. Her CF Doctor admitted her to Knoxville's University of Tennessee Hospital last Wednesday night (February 19, 2025). With the results from her sputum cultures and results from all of her other extensive labs and tests, it was discovered that the MRSA and Pseudomonas were worsening, She was having issues with her liver disease, AND She had some mucus plugs in her lower and middle right lobes of her lungs. She was then given a PICC line placement on Friday morning to run a course of Cefepime. Thankfully, her CF Dr believed that she was stable enough Today to be discharged and sent home to finish up her IV Antibiotics until March 3rd. He is going to refer her to see a Liver Disease Specialist and schedule her a follow up appointment with the CF Clinic and go from there.

Prior to Her being admitted... her Husband had learned that His place of employment had recently changed Their Insurance Carrier to Consociate Health and with them Their NEW Deductible amount was going to be $5,000. for this year.
As you can imagine - the stress and worry alone - from having her health declining and the Doctors wanting to discuss filing for Disability with her ( during THIS hospitalization )..... and...... the stress of now wondering HOW SHE IS GOING TO MEET THE NEW MEDICAL INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE and PAY FOR ALL THE ADDED MEDICATIONS - SUPPLIES - and EQUIPMENT and (!!!) continue to meet Her financial needs with every day living expenses along w/ Her Husband______ It's been VERY OVERWHELMING for Her !!!

I wanted to organize this GoFundMe Page FOR HER and HER HUSBAND to help them receive donations that CAN help Them relieve some of the financial and emotional burdens so she CAN focus on getting better and living the Life she's been working so hard on having with Her Husband Alex and her Family and Friends.

I humbly ask that you please do share this GoFundMe Page with Family, Friends, Followers, Coworkers, Church Family, Clubs , etc that you feel might be inspired to support Tiffannie (& Alex). Your generous donations will be deposited into a private account that Tiffannie and Alex can access at any time in need --- for Their Deductible, Co Pays, Equipment and Supplies, Out of Pocket Expenses, Traveling to Dr appointments , or to help Alex commute back and forth during her Hospital stays, and for other much needed financial expenses that arises in the future.

WE GREATLY APPRECIATE EACH AND EVERY DONATION !!!

Thank you in advance for ALL donations - prayers - and words of encouragement !!!

Sincerely,
Amanda Johnson
