Hi, my name’s Rosie, and I’m a proud owner of my 16 year old cat Tiddles (I know it’s a very unique name). Me, my brother and my Mum have had Tiddles for about 12-3 years in total, where before she belonged to my grandparents for a couple years after they rescued her off the streets as a stray. When she was given to us by my grandparents, I was very young but always felt a connection with her and as someone with two other cats, I’ve always felt like she was mine.

About a year ago, maybe more, me and my family found out she had severe contact dermatitis after having caught flees, which we attempted to treat her for for months, and even tried giving her a bath to get rid of them, but found out how severe the problem was when the water was immediately stained with her blood, dirt, and the fleas. We got her medication for her dermatitis, as well as some to get rid of the fleas, however, after around 6 months of hope, it came back. This time, it’s affected not just her body, but her eyes as well. She’s had two vet visits since where we found out she had hyperthyroidism, explaining her fluctuating appetite and constant loss of weight, but the visits are getting increasingly more expensive. All three of us in the house are earning an income, but it’s not enough for the regular care she needs, and I hate to watch her suffer.

Tiddles has always been a timid cat who likes to have her own space, but she’s always been affectionate and loved a good fuss, especially with me; but since her diagnosis, she’s become very distant, sleepy and weak and I would love to help her be back to who she was, even if she’s not 100% healthy.
Thank you for reading, and even sharing Tiddles’ story can really make a difference!
