Support Tia’s Journey to a Life-Saving Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
Hello friends and family. My name is Tia and I have end-stage renal disease. My kidneys are both failing and working at 2% function. I do peritoneal dialysis every day for the last 2 1/2 years for 8 hours a night. I am on two transplant lists, one at Methodist in San Antonio and UC Health in Denver.
Unfortunately, my health has been declining over the last 6 months and my failing kidneys are causing other problems. In the last 4 months, I have been admitted to the hospital 3 times already. I have been diagnosed as anemic, my heart is now in atrial fibrillation, and I have pericarditis around my heart. It is very hard for me to do normal everyday activities like playing volleyball with my oldest and riding bikes. I have all-over body pain and severe muscle fatigue with a terrible chronic cough. I have seen many specialists and they hardly ever know what to do other than prescribe even more medication. I take many pills a day just to keep my blood and heart regulated.
As you know, seeing specialists and being admitted to the hospital for multiple night stays adds up to about $20,000 each time, and dialysis itself costs over $200k per month. We do have insurance, but we still get charged co-pays and percentages of the bill. I am asking out of the kindness of my heart for you to donate as much as you can to help us pay for these bills. $1 from each of our friends and family and their friends and family will go such a long way for my family. Thank you for joining me in this journey and hearing my story. If you have any questions or you are curious about my full story, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your time. God bless you all.
