I’m reaching out today with a heavy but hopeful heart to ask for your support for Curtia, lovingly known as “Tia”, a devoted mother of three, a compassionate caregiver, a dedicated Program Manager, and a truly remarkable woman who has given so much of herself to others. Recently, Tia’s world was shaken by a life-altering diagnosis: Breast Cancer. Specifically, Aggressive Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Grade 3, Stage IIA, Multifocal (multiple tumors), Estrogen receptor-positive (ER+).
To confirm this devastating diagnosis, Tia endured five mammograms, three ultrasounds, two MRIs, two biopsies, and genetic testing. She is now embarking on an intense treatment journey, starting with six months of aggressive chemotherapy. Among these treatments is Doxorubicin (AC), the most powerful chemotherapy drug, often called the “Red Devil.” But in Tia’s own words, “We call it the Blood of Jesus because we refuse to claim anything associated with the devil.” Her strength and faith remain unshaken as she fights to shrink and control the tumors. Chemotherapy began on December 2, 2024, marking the start of this grueling but necessary phase.
After chemotherapy, Tia will face a double mastectomy due to the cancer’s aggressive nature and its high recurrence risk (40–90%). This will be followed by hormone therapy to manage cancer driven by estrogen levels and reconstructive surgery to restore her physical sense of self, a process that will be as mentally and emotionally demanding as it is physically. Additionally, genetic testing has revealed a 50–90% risk of ovarian cancer, necessitating a double oophorectomy to protect her health and future.
Tia’s life has always been a testament to resilience, compassion, and selflessness. Even as she navigates her own battle, she remains a cornerstone of love and strength for her children, parents, and loved ones. Recently, she also stepped up to care for her mother, who was suddenly diagnosed with a spinal tumor and Multiple Myeloma a form of blood cancer. Despite her own struggles, she puts others first. From mentoring, volunteering, and donating to simply being a shoulder to lean on, Tia has always shown up for those in need.
Now, it’s our turn to show up for her.
The road ahead will be long and uncertain, filled with challenges both emotional and financial. The costs for on-going treatments/cancer care and the multiple surgeries ahead, will be steep. That’s why I’m asking for your help, to ease the financial burden so Tia can focus on what truly matters: her health, her healing, and her family.
Your donations will directly support medical expenses, including out-of-pocket costs, and help with household bills to ensure Tia and her children are cared for during this critical time.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a profound difference. If you’re unable to contribute financially, I humbly ask for your prayers, positive energy, and words of encouragement. These gifts of hope and love mean more than you can imagine.
Let’s rally around Tia and remind her that she is not alone in this fight. Together, we can help her face and conquer this battle with strength, courage, and grace, and build a future where her kindness and compassion create a ripple effect of hope for others.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Tia, Family, & Friends
