On Monday June 22nd, everyone's favorite bartender from the Hazelhurst Pub, co-founder/owner of the Hazelhurst Sub and Deli, and my wife Tia Simpson, suffered a sudden and severe brain aneurysm. She was med flighted to Marshfield's Trauma Center, where she underwent life-saving surgery the following day. The Simpson family is so grateful for the positive outcome and the amazing care being provided at Marshfield Medical Center, but the road ahead is daunting: Tia faces a minimum of three weeks in the MICU, with a high risk of stroke and complications from the aneurysm repair. After this critical period, she will need a month or more of in-hospital physical therapy, then months of in-home care and therapy to regain her strength and independence.


Tia’s husband Jay, and their three daughters, Kailee, Kelsey, and Janie, are by her side every step of the way, but the financial strain will be overwhelming. All funds raised will go towards covering medical bills that exceed insurance coverage, travel and living expenses for her family as they stay and visit to support her recovery, and hopefully help offset some lost income during the time she will be incapacitated. Tia is a well-known and much-loved member of our small community of Hazelhurst, WI, and before that Edison Park in Chicago, IL. She and her family have always gone out of their way to help anyone in these communities when they can, and now is the time for us to show up for them.
