My name is Tasha Underwood & I’m reaching out 4 support @ 1 of the most challenging times n my 52 yrs. I’ve been on the kidney transplant wait list & receiving dialysis 4 the past 17 months. As I am holding on 2 hope 4 a kidney soon, I’ve recently learned that I need Open Heart Surgery 2 replace my Mitral Valve, b4 I can continue 2b listed 4 transplant. My surgery is scheduled 4 January 9th.

As u can imagine, this has been overwhelming physically, mentallly & especially financially. I have exhausted my employment benefits including FMLA & short term disability. I’m now on COBRA where my premiums r almost $1,000 per month. Never in my life did I think I would be creating a go fund me, but after many sleepless nights, prayers & conversations I realize I need 2b vulnerable & lean on my community 4 support.

I’m a single mother & my son & I rely on each other 4 encouragement & support. However the immediate road ahead is open heart surgery, skilled nursing facility, continued dialysis & rehabilitation that will require focus, time & resources that I currently don’t have. My greatest fear is not being able 2 take care of my household & provide my son with the stability he deserves while I recover.
