Last February, my world changed completely when my best friend, Throttle, succumbed to a disease that nearly took his life. It was around 5 a.m. on February 11th 2024 when he started having seizures. He was later diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis; his organs were shutting down. He had two more seizures on our way to the vet clinic, all three within the matter of 20 minutes. He spent the next five days under in emergency intensive care. Doctors had to monitor him 24 hours a day. They weren't sure if he was gonna make it. I was not ready to say goodbye, and neither was he, apparently, because against the odds, he pulled through.
That was the beginning of a battle he has to fight now everyday, since then, we've been taking it one day at a time, keeping him healthy and stable. He needs insulin shots twice daily, a strict diet of special prescription food, and frequent vet visits to manage his condition. I'll never forget that morning and I'm determined to never let him have to suffer through that again. I’ve done everything I can to make sure he’s as comfortable as possible. He’s been my best friend for the past 14½ years, and I owe it to him.
Unfortunately the costs have been overwhelming. In the past year, I’ve spent over $11,000 on his care, with emergency bills alone making up almost half of that. On a regular basis, his medication, food, and vet visits cost about $375 per month, an amount I simply can’t sustain much longer.
I never imagined I’d be in a position where I’d have to ask for help or having to admit that I need it, but as of right now, I won't be able to get his next vial of insulin before he runs out in two weeks. So I have to swallow my pride because I can’t let my best friend suffer due to financial strain. Every dollar raised will go directly toward his medication, food, and vet care, ensuring he stays healthy and happy for as long as possible.
If you can donate, or even just share this, I would be forever grateful. Throttle has been by my side for almost half my life. He truly is my best friend and I just want to give him the best life possible and to feel as good as he can in the time we have left together.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
