Hey everyone,
My name is Ellis Kerry and I am 14 years old. I’m planning to raise £500 by selling 3D-printed items, with half of the money going to an OCD charity and the other half helping me buy a festival ticket. This cause is really personal to me because I’ve battled OCD since I was very little, and it’s been one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced.
A lot of people think OCD is just about being neat or washing your hands a lot, but that’s not what it’s really like. OCD is having intrusive thoughts you don’t want—thoughts that can be terrifying, disturbing, or make no sense—but they feel so real that you can’t ignore them. And then come the compulsions, the things you feel like you must do to make the thoughts go away, even if deep down you know they won’t. It’s exhausting and overwhelming, and for a long time, I didn’t even understand what was happening to me.
When my OCD was at its worst, it completely took over my life. I lost a lot of weight because my brain was so consumed by obsessive thoughts that I barely ate. I couldn’t focus properly on school or enjoy things the way I used to. It’s a disorder that makes you feel trapped in your own mind, and worst of all, most people don’t really understand it.
I’ve tried for a long time to raise awareness by word of mouth and I truly believe it is one of the most misunderstood disabilities in the world. In my experience, I have struggled a lot with talking about my OCD and reaching out for help. Now felt like the right time to raise money for OCD and specifically the charity OCD UK. Half of all money raised will go to this charity to help people like me struggling with this horrible disorder. This money will go a long way and make the difference people in need are so desperate for.
That’s why I want to help change things. The money I raise will go towards research and education so that more people can get diagnosed early, get the right help, and not feel as alone as I did. OCD is a serious mental illness, but with more awareness and better treatments, people won’t have to suffer in silence.
To fundraise, I’m selling 3D-printed items, including designs designed by me, inspired by OCD awareness and mental health. If you want to support, you can buy something, share this with others, or even donate—every bit helps!
Thank you for reading and for any support you can give. It truly means the world to me.
Keep in mind 50% of all money made/donated goes to OCD UK!
