Honoring Chrisandra Crowell-Cook: Breast Cancer Fighter

Donation protected
*My name is Nicholas Lewis. I am in a relationship with Kelsie Cook, daughter of Chrisandra Cook. I have created this Go Fund Me and will be gathering all funds to send to the Cook Family. Thank you.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Chrisandra Cook from stage 4 breast cancer.

Chrisandra was a selfless woman. Her life was a testament to her commitment to compassion and service. From her career as a social worker, to her diligent involvement at her church, Chrisandra has blessed many with her wisdom, love, and grace.

Chrisandra was a leader. For two decades, her career as a social worker supervisor serving Los Angeles County had her providing resources to families in need. She was more than just a supervisor, she was a mentor, advocate, and guiding light to all of the families she was able to help.

Her dedication and leadership extended to her faith, as she was deeply involved with Holman United Methodist Church. She was the Co-coordinator of the children’s ministry and served as the Dean of church summer camp that nurtured youth in their spiritual, emotional, and personal journey.

Chrisandra was fun! Wherever she was, she was a beacon of positivity. Her presence brought serenity and her laughs were contagious. Her ability to find and share the joy of life to everyone is a demonstration of her amazing character.

Chrisandra was a fighter. When she received her diagnosis with breast cancer in 2013, Her cousin gifted her with a pair of pink boxing gloves. Since then, she made a commitment to fight this disease. Over the next 11 years, she inspired many with her optimism and gratitude, finding the pleasures and beauty in life despite the situation. No matter how she was feeling, Chrisandra focused on what mattered most, her family, loved ones, and her community.

She is survived by her husband, Danon, and her children, Kelsie and Brendan.

In the wake of this loss, the family faces financial challenges. Any contribution towards this campaign is deeply appreciated. Thank you for your love and support.

“Graceful woman warrior.
You are engaged in a war with an enemy unseen.
A vicious enemy who seeks to destroy and demean.
It silently snuck in undercover, and it took many tests to discover.
But now after the surgeries, treatments and pain, the fatigue, nauseous and financial strain... What remains is your strength and courage that is retained.
The strength to get up, get dressed and go to work. The courage to walk and talk and thank the creator for another day and for your self worth.
Keep your head up , and make a way out of no way, not letting negative thoughts make you go astray.
You are actively fighting every day so don't be dismayed.
It will feel worse before it gets better, and trust it will.; keep looking forward and don't keep still.
Just continue to fight and you will see the light.
For a gracious warrior knows there is a battle that can be won, for you will be the victor in this one.”
