Support Thor's Journey to Comfort

Hi! Honestly, fund-raising isn’t something I ever saw myself needing to do, but here we are. I’m writing this in hopes to raise some money for Thors hip replacement surgery. If you know me, you know how much this boy means to me and that I don’t even refer to him as my dog but as my son.

Back in April we had taken him to the vet for limping, hoping he had maybe just pulled something from too much activity in the yard and some pain relief would do the trick. Unfortunately that was not the case, and X-rays were needed. We found out he has hip dysplasia of the right hip. We were given the options of medication or surgery. We opted first to try medication. He has been on a joint supplement and pills for inflammation and pain relief, however they are not helping much. Unfortunately as with any medications like that they cannot fix the issue, but only try to alleviate the symptoms. After discussing these things with the doctor, the only thing that would truly give my boy comfort would be a total hip replacement.

We were quoted a starting price of $4,500 and it could end up going much higher depending on a multitude of factors. As I’m sure a lot of you know, animal hospitals don’t offer payment plans or financing - so having this much money to shell out in one lump sum is not easy for me to do.

I’ve always considered myself a prideful person, and I’ve never really been comfortable asking for help from others. But seeing Thor in so much pain is breaking my heart.
