Thomas Has Given So Much—Now He Needs Us

Thomas is the kind of person who always shows up for others. Whether it’s cleaning up his community, tutoring people for free so they can pass their GED, or volunteering countless hours to lead a free and inclusive local writing club, Thomas has dedicated his time and energy to uplifting those around him. Now, he’s facing the fight of his life, and it’s our turn to show up for him.

On December 16-17, Thomas was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The road to this diagnosis was grueling—urgent care visits, ER stays, CT scans, multiple MRIs, and specialist consultations. And now, the reality is clear: without surgery, this tumor will take his life.

While this type of tumor is often non-cancerous, its location makes it extremely dangerous—it’s lodged between his right ear and brainstem and has already grown to the size of a small orange. If left untreated, it will continue to grow, ultimately proving fatal. The next steps involve complex and high-risk brain surgery, possible radiation, and months of physical therapy.

Even if the surgery is successful, Thomas has already been told he will:

❌ Lose hearing in his right ear

❌ Likely lose movement on the right side of his face

❌ Possibly experience speech and tongue movement difficulties

But without the surgery, there is no chance of survival.

To give him the best possible chance, Thomas needs to be in the hands of a highly skilled surgeon and an excellent medical team. But even with insurance, the financial burden is overwhelming—medical cases like his often result in $25,000-$50,000 in debt.
