Support Thomas in Overcoming Homelessness

Hello, my name is Thomas. I'm 50 years old and I've been homeless for over a year now. I slipped and fell at work on Dec 31st, 2019. I had a femoral head fracture, which is the top of the hip bone. I got a settlement and had to resign. I rolled my Silverado 7 times in 2023 on the 10 freeway between the Joshua Tree offramp and Coachella, CA. Anyways, I had a broken back and crawled out of my window, probably a 5-inch gap, but I did it. I waited 45 minutes for an ambulance and drove another 45 minutes to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, CA. I had emergency spinal fusion from T8 to T10. I had all the hardware removed as of May 2024. The orthopedic specialist said I was healed. I've been waiting for social security since Feb 9th, 2023. I've been denied 5 times. My CA disability ran out a year ago, and I've been getting EBT, so I eat. I also have a herniated disc, which in all spots has arthritis. I also have degenerative disc disease in that spinal fusion. Among other things, I was deemed 21 percent disabled with my hip. Then I broke my back. I've lost 3 inches in height. So, I can't work because I can't sit, stand, or walk for more than 30 minutes before I need to lay down, but I'm in pain unless I'm laying down. Because of that, nobody would hire me. I live 6 miles from a bus stop, and it's 100 degrees out, and I have no vehicle. I'm trying to get a vehicle to make my chances of getting a job better.
