Support Thomas After Hit-and-Run Accident
Donation protected
On Monday April 14th, 2025, Thomas Beckstedt was leaving his job from Mendards at Southtown on US-27. Thomas was hit and thrown from his moped and unfortunately the other driver hit and ran and left Thomas there. NOBODY stopped to help him. A bystander from a restaurant came and tried to help but he had to WALK HOME and call the police. He did sustain some injuries. They include facial fractures, broken nose and cheek bones as well as road rash all over his back, butt, groin, elbows, knees. His helmet saved his life! His moped is totaled, and his helmet is ruined.
Thomas is autistic.
As his sister said “It’s really quite amazing that he has found independence that makes him proud and happy. What sucks is when that independence is stripped because of people that can not pay attention.”
Thomas is one of the kindest people you will ever meet and today, someone ruined his livelihood. He’s such a sweet person and doesn’t deserve this one bit. There are crappy people out there and unfortunately, he had to deal with one today, but I wanted him to know there is a lot of GOOD people out there who care about him.
We are trying to the raise the funds in getting him a new helmet and a new moped to get to and from work and gain some of his independence back that was taken from him this afternoon.
If you are reading this; please look both ways.
Pay attention to the roadways and put your phones down. This could have ended a lot worse for our friend. Also, if you saw anything infront of Southtown area on 27- please let us know!
