Thirteen years ago, Yolanda and Juan journeyed together to the United States from Guatemala. They supported each other and built a life here to support their families in Guatemala. After many years in the U.S., they were able to start a family of their own. Yolanda and Juan now have a beautiful baby son who is 14 months old, and there is one more child on the way.

On July 12, 2026, Juan left the house early in the morning to get groceries. He was abducted by ICE in the parking lot, and never made it home. After a short detention, he was quickly deported to Guatemala.

Juan was the main provider for the family, working long construction hours. Since the birth of their first child, Yolanda has been able to work a part time cleaning job. But this work, plus the cost of childcare and transportation, is not enough to cover rent, utilities, and food costs on her own. Things will only become more difficult financially when she gives birth early next year.

Yolanda doesn’t want to give up the home that she and Juan made together here in the United States, and she is reaching out for support. This family needs our solidarity as Yolanda navigates this extremely difficult time. Please donate what you can and share this GoFundMe widely.
