Hi, we are raising funds to help support our brave friend, Therese. In August, while celebrating her 38th birthday with friends in the park, Therese suffered a stroke. The stroke was in her left vertebral artery, causing balance impairment, dizziness, double vision, nausea/vomiting, and a dangerously low heart rate. Therese was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she spent the next nine days enduring countless tests and uncertainty about her condition. Thankfully, she has suffered no paralysis or impairments in speech, swallowing, cognition, or memory. Despite her pain and discomfort, she is facing the whole experience with her trademark combination of determination and humor.
On September 9th, Therese was transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation program. While her symptoms have slowly been improving, she continues to work through challenges with balance and activity tolerance. After completing this program, she will continue therapy in the outpatient setting.
Needless to say, this medical emergency will have rippling effects on Therese’s life. As a mental health therapist with her own practice, she is facing lost income during her recovery and a number of unexpected and ongoing medical expenses. To those who know her, Therese is always the first to jump in with a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on, and now it is our turn to reciprocate. Our goal is to help support Therese so she can focus on her recovery and return to the active, adventurous life she enjoys. Whether it's backpacking and hiking in the Pacific Northwest, road tripping to Idaho to visit her family, traveling the world, or just hanging at home with friends, we want to see Therese back on her feet and living her best life!
