My name is Theresa Brown, and I am a 38-year-old mother of five. Last year, I was diagnosed with Chiari malformation type 1 with a syrinx of 9mm. After months of managing symptoms and searching for answers, I am now scheduled for decompression brain surgery on November 26th, 2025. This surgery is necessary for my health and future, but it also means I will be out of work for about 12 weeks while I recover.

I recently learned that I do not have any medical leave or financial assistance from work to help cover my bills during this time. As a single mom, this news has been overwhelming. The funds raised here will go directly toward my mortgage, utilities, groceries, and making sure my children have something to look forward to for Christmas. Additionally, the support will help with gas for my older two children, who will be helping get their younger siblings to and from school, doctor appointments, and activities while I recover.
