To my family, friends, dance buddies, and 12-step fellowship sisters and brothers:

Some of you know about my saga to achieve a new career… The good news is I got my degree and substitute teaching credential and have been hired by two school districts.  I have been fortunate to work 2 whole shifts as a substitute teacher.
 Update Jan 1, 2019

OK, well, the Cancer treatments of Chemotherapy and Radiation are getting REAL. As they've said, the "cure" is Worse than the disease. & they're NOT kidding! For my particular facial location, some of the side effects are hideous and painful others simply tedious and uncomfortable. & Oh OMG, I Did Get the first of many Bills for diagnostics and therapy of $3153.00, yikes! On my Facebook Page: Theresa Jacques w/ a picture of me wearing a hat &  holding little Blk & white  dog, plus a little inset pic with my hair swept back in better times and  (which I believe I've made "public", There are more pics of the beginnings of said treatments. I Thank each and everyone of you for your help, understanding and support. Although you may also receive an email from me....(since my crappy HMO is not covering near what I'd hope). I'm including the link to my Go Fund Me page, and if you've already donated, Bless You, or are just not in a position to do so, + I know, it's Not tax-deductible... However, Perhaps you have some friends or family members who are "flush" and might be willing to throw-in.

The bad news:

After what I thought was to be a routine sinus surgery, I was diagnosed with a malignant maxillofacial squamous cell carcinoma. It is in my head, inside my face.   Apparently, you CAN NOT just cut out the tumor, because these cancer cells spread like tentacles. Plus, there are all those other things inside my head, like eyes, and hearing mechanisms -which I'd like to keep working.  The treatment to combat the growth of this cancer is extensive radiation and chemotherapy and possibly more surgeries (of the lymph glands).

I have minimal health insurance, Medicare plus a supplement plan, which will leave me with numerous bills beyond my ability to pay.

Additionally, due to the location of the tumors and the nature of the radiation therapy, I have significant dental repairs which must be completed before the oncologists can begin treating my cancer.  The dental work is very expensive, to repair necrotic roots under permanent bridges, which will need to be replaced.  For this, I have no insurance.

As we all know, it’s essentially impossible, in the American healthcare industry, to determine the true price of treatment before starting.  Or, indeed, what your out-of-pocket cost will be.  With that uncertainty, I’m humbly asking for Your Help.  I’ve been advised to set this fundraising campaign to an initial conservative amount of $25,000.00 The dental work alone, is estimated at from $4,350.00 to $8,285.00. And I must get the dentist to sign off that the work has been completed before they will even start with my cancer treatment.  My cancer is at stage 4A now...we do not want it to get to 4M, (metastasized).   God willing, this amount will be sufficient.

The money raised in this campaign will go directly to my treatment and related costs.  If ultimately there are funds not needed, I’m committed to paying them forward to others in medical need.

For whatever monetary, emotional, or other support all y’all offer me, I appreciate each and every one of you, and thank you from the bottom of my heart. With Love and Gratitude,

Theresa Jacques
