Hi friends and family,
I’m starting this GoFundMe for my daughter Theresa and her husband Brent, who are going through an incredibly difficult time. About a month and a half ago, their beloved dog Finley collapsed unexpectedly. In the chaos, her sister Jameson reacted abnormally and attacked Finley, resulting in emergency vet care and staples in her neck.
While treating her injuries, the vets discovered that Finley had dangerously low blood sugar levels. After further testing, they diagnosed her with an insulinoma—a tumor on her pancreas. Her body had been coping with it for some time, but the collapse was a sign that things were rapidly deteriorating.
Theresa and Brent moved quickly to get her into surgery. Finley came through the operation like a fighter and began recovering better than anyone expected. But just as hope returned, Finley suddenly took a turn for the worse. She began bleeding internally, and despite several blood and plasma transfusions, doctors couldn't locate the source. Within 24 hours, they lost all hope for her recovery. Theresa and Brent had to make the heartbreaking decision to let Finley go.
Finley wasn’t just a dog. She was their baby, their best friend, their constant companion through nearly a decade of life—before marriage, before their first home, through all of life’s highs and lows. She was the light in their lives and a true member of the family.
Though they would never ask for help themselves, as a mom, I’ve watched them suffer not only emotionally but now financially after doing everything they could to save Finley. The cost of emergency care, diagnostics, surgery, and critical care added up quickly, and they now face the financial burden of it all on top of their grief.
Many loved ones have asked how they can help. This GoFundMe is my way of giving those who care about them an opportunity to support Theresa and Brent in this heartbreaking time. Every little bit helps—whether it’s a donation, a kind word, or simply sharing this page.
Thank you for loving them and for loving Finley.
With gratitude,
"Momma" Helen
