I'm raising funds for my sister after a devastating accident in Cozumel, Mexico. On 9/10/26, while she was on a cruise stop, she was riding a scooter when she was hit by a truck. She was rushed to Costamed in Cozumel, where doctors found that she had fractured her right arm in two places and fractured her back.
She had emergency surgery on her right arm in Mexico, but because of improper care, a language barrier and being so far from home, she and our family wanted her back in the United States so she can get back surgery. Insurance would not cover the transport back to Baltimore, so my mom and aunt put the full $38,000 medical flight on their credit cards to get her home. On 9/14/26, she was flown back to the U.S. and taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where she is continuing her recovery journey.
This has affected so much more than just the immediate medical emergency. My sister is a single parent of two kids, and she is in the special education field. She will be unable to work for a while as she recovers, and my mom will be moving in with her temporarily to help care for her and the kids during this time.
Donations will help cover the cost of the medical flight, the damaged scooter, hotel costs for my mom and me while we stayed in Mexico, and my flights to and from Mexico. Any support, no matter the amount, would mean so much to our family as my sister focuses on healing and getting back to her children. If you are not able to donate, sharing this fundraiser would also help us tremendously.
