Support Theo's Fight Against Brain Cancer

My name is Kristen Sims and I am in hopes of raising money for this sweet, brilliant boy I nanny. His name is Theodore Hoel, most commonly known as Theo. During the last couple of weeks in March, he was constantly getting sick. His doctor was concerned of a few things, but never the reality of what came to be. Monday, March 31st, he declined immensely. His doctor had told Maddie and Jake (Theo’s mom and dad) to skip the visit to the office and head straight to the ER. That visit changed their world. They had found a brain tumor. That evening they were airlifted to St. Jude. Wednesday, April 2nd, Theo under went surgery and they were able to remove the tumor. His post op MRI came up clear! He was diagnosed with medulloblastoma. The odds are looking good, so there is lots of hope for a good outcome. This was such an intense surgery, especially only being 14 months old. I’m asking for help in raising money for their little family, as they are both having to take unpaid leave from their jobs, just to be able to stay with him. Maddie is also pregnant with their second baby, so I’m hoping this money will take away some of the added stress and unknown. They have a long road ahead of them, but things are finally starting to look up. Anything helps! I thank you in advance and ask for all the positive energy and prayers to be sent their way. Update on Tuesday, April 8th:

They are on their way home today, but were thrown another hard factor. Theo's tumor is not a medulloblastoma, it's something called an AT/RT which is very rare and much harder to treat. His oncologist says there's still a chance for a cure so we're trying to stay hopeful. On top of everything, Maddie's mom is in the hospital, she had to have a heart shunt put in due to something called broken heart syndrome that causes heart attack-like symptoms. They are going back to start treatment in two weeks. They will be at St. Jude for 8-12 months of chemo and radiation so that will have to become their home for a while.
