Aloha,
I come with a heavy heart. I know some of you have heard about my wife Theodene's ("Theo" for short) diagnosis. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor (Glioblastoma). Our family was in shock, like anyone else might be, as well as in disbelief, scared, in fear, and lost for words.
There have been a lot of ups and downs this past month. She is going through her treatments right now: 6 weeks of radiation with chemotherapy. After the 6 weeks are up, they will increase the dosage of the chemotherapy. We are praying for the tumor to shrink. Surgery is not an option due to the nerves in the brain.
Theo is doing well. We are taking it day by day. Praise the Lord she has no side effects with the treatments.
We still have to walk with her to get around, and her vision isn't good. Brain fog and short-term memory are off and on due to the tumor pressing on the nerves in the brain. That affects most normal things she can do.
Theo still laughs, and we always joke around with one another. Let me tell you a short story:
One day, I did something she didn’t like. Theo was so pissed. Then maybe 20 minutes later, I told her I’m sorry. Please forgive me. She says, "I forgive you." Then I asked, "Do you even remember why you were mad at me?" Theo replies, "No." Then she says, "That’s good for you I don’t remember." Then she laughs. I sat there thinking, "Yeah, that’s a good thing." But to be honest, I wish she did remember.
Theo is handling this season with grace and peace of mind. She never complains about her situation.
I come before you all with humility and pride set to the side. As one that likes to give rather than receive, this is hard to ask for help like this. I had to put my pride to the side as I'm aware pride is a sin.
Whatever amount, big or small, is donated, our family knows it's a blessing and it's from the heart.
Anyone can reach out to me, and I can give you updates or answer any questions. Please be patient with me as I might take a minute to get back to you all.
We appreciate you all and love you all for your support. ❤️❤️ “He’s in this story with us”
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
