Support Thea Chapman’s Recovery Journey

On December 28, 2025, at approximately 3:31 PM, Thea Chapman’s life was changed forever when she was brutally attacked while working alone at the Industrial Park in Horseheads, NY, the clock-in and clock-out location for her workplace, Southern Tier Logistics.

Thea is employed by Southern Tier Logistics and is normally assigned to work at the chocolate factory on Turtle Circle Drive. At the time of the attack, she was at the Industrial Park to clock out, as her workday was scheduled to end at 4:00 PM.

A Belgian Malinois came out of nowhere and mauled her right forearm, tearing out a softball-sized chunk of flesh and exposing bone. The property is clearly marked NO TRESPASSING / NO ENTRY UNLESS FOR BUSINESS PURPOSES, yet the dog’s owner ignored these warnings and allowed their dog to run loose on the property.

The only reason Thea was able to escape further harm is because she had parked her truck extremely close to the building. Even so, she was completely alone at the time of the attack. She immediately called 911, then called me — her daughter — while applying pressure to her wound until emergency responders arrived. She was transported by ambulance to Arnot Ogden Medical Center Emergency Room, where she received emergency care.

Thea will require reconstructive surgery and faces a long, painful recovery.

Thea is a truck driver, and because the attack severely injured her dominant arm, she will be unable to work for an extended period of time. While we are incredibly grateful that she has retained mobility in her arm, she is still in rough condition and has a long road ahead both physically and financially.

Because of everyday living expenses while she is unable to work, the financial burden is overwhelming.

We are asking for help during this unimaginable time. Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward medical and living expenses while Thea focuses on healing. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser to help spread the word.

Your support, prayers, and kindness mean more than we can express. Thank you for helping our family support Thea through her recovery.
