This week, the Zavala family suffered an unimaginable loss with the passing of their beloved son and brother, Carlos. To support them during this difficult time, Lockton has arranged a GoFundMe to help with funeral costs and other expenses.

Lockton is unique in that people tend to stay for a while, and this is best represented by the Zavala family, where the lines between literal family and Lockton family blur. Carlos, his mother Diana, and his sister Briana have been part of our Lockton family for many years.

Carlos began his career with us in 2019 in the mailroom, back when we were in the office five days a week and physical mail was still delivered. From day one, every floor and every team was met by his contagious smile and upbeat energy. He quickly moved through the ranks, joining Kevin Noonan’s unit, then the National Accounts team. He thrived as an Account Manager, bringing insight and energy to some of our largest and most complex accounts. He was the heart of a team filled with new faces, always pulling us together and making the office feel lighter during stressful stretches.

Every room felt his presence—whether he was hyping us up or making us laugh. Many of us knew him for his gregarious personality and swagger, especially when sporting his iconic Versace glasses. But he also had an introverted side. He was a creative and a poet, with music being one of his passions. One of his tracks, ‘Faith’, has nearly 60,000 hits on Spotify.

Carlos has been described as passionate, kind, dependable, gracious, and one-of-a-kind. His trademark phrase, “I got you,” wasn’t just words; it was a promise he always kept.

His spirit will live on in the memories we cherish and the culture he helped shape. We will miss his laughter, his optimism, and the light he brought to our lives.

Our hearts are with his mom, Diana, his siblings Briana and Zander, his girlfriend Emily, and all who loved Carlos. Rest in peace—you will never be forgotten.
