Update: Wayne passed peacefully in his sleep on March 9, 2026.

In early 2026, Wayne Younger developed a type of encephalitis that will likely be diagnosed as Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD). In summary, some cells in his brain randomly imploded and started a domino effect that cannot be stopped. His brain is attacking itself and he is rapidly losing his memory and bodily control. CJD is an ugly, relentless disease. There is no cure. Wayne is currently in hospice, receiving palliative care. His beloved life partner and justice co-conspirator, Leeann Younger is residing in hospice with him.

Wayne, Leeann, and their children have been quickly surrounded with support during this difficult time, but the reality is that their family will need ongoing financial support for a while to come. We are hoping to raise a financial cushion to cover Wayne's unexpected loss of income, stop-gap healthcare coverage for the family, as well as end of life expenses.
