On May 23, Logan and Darcie attended a concert they had been looking forward to for months. It was the first time they left Lyla at home with babysitters for an extended time. (Praise God, she was not in the car!)
At about 11:45pm they were struck head-on by a drunk driver. They were severely injured. Not to mention the emotional trauma and pain: Logan has a broken rib and sternum and severe bruises on his legs. Darcie has a broken fibula and had surgery for a broken tailbone and pelvis and now has permanent plates and pins. Her “full” recovery will take up to 12 weeks. She cannot put weight on her right leg for 6 weeks and is using a walker to get around. Neither of them will be able to drive for a while nor will they want to.
On top of their injuries, Darcie was 21 weeks pregnant, and the baby did not survive the accident. Darcie delivered their precious baby boy on May 24, at 11:42 pm. Matthew (“Gift from God”) Lee Wulpi was 11” long and weighed 15.9 oz.
Not only are Darcie and Logan experiencing grief upon grief, but they have to relive the details over and over as they make phone calls to their insurance, medical billing departments, find a lawyer, and make arrangements for Matthew’s funeral.
They’ve already received one medical bill for $10,000. The financial burden is weighing heavily upon their already grieving family. Beyond the growing medical bills, they will also be paying for funeral expenses for Matthew, legal expenses, and replacing their car. Please consider making a donation to help cover the outrageous pending costs.
Anything you donate will help. Any dollar amount that is given beyond their expenses, they’ve graciously decided to donate to charity. (More details to come on the benefactor)
On behalf of the Wulpis and their family, thank you for your support!
