Hi, I'm Leo, for those of you who haven't had the good fortune to meet me yet ! For many years now I have written in one form or another, first diarising my family holidays and later on a blog that I set up for this express purpose.

I have been in Zimbabwe for the past two months, seeing friends and family and reconnecting after almost nine years away. I have seriously considered the possibility of working here again but have not been very successful in my endeavours.

I will need to go back into regular work again shortly, but since I am here, I feel compelled to continue on to South Africa. If I can raise the money for an onward ticket and a flight out in a month's time then I think I can achieve my objective.

I have just spent close on 250 USD on applying for my Zimbabwe citizenship and passport which I relinquished twenty years ago. It wasn't possible to have dual citizenship then but times have changed, and it seems it can be done. Fingers crossed that mine will be issued without a snag...

PS As many of you will know I have children residing in the Netherlands with their mother. You may be wondering why I'm travelling while they are back there and perhaps thinking that I'm being self-indulgent. I tried my best to make things work with Mirjam but we were like two donkeys pulling in opposite directions on issues of importance to us! I really do love my boys and I will try to see them as often as time permits. Also, I need to be happy with my life and at peace with myself in order to be a good example to them.
