Support The Wilsons as Jim Fights for Life
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Shannon, and I am raising money for the two best friends a girl could have, Jim and Kim Wilson. They are two of the kindest, most giving people I have ever known. Either would give anyone the shirt off of their back. They have weathered a lot of storms over 31 years of marriage, but for the first time, they could really use a helping hand.
As some may know, Jim suffered a stroke in August 2020. He had surgery a month later to stent the blockage in his brain and was back to work in a brickyard in four short weeks. Unfortunately, the brickyard relocated in December of 2021, and Jim lost the job he had for 18 years. He has drawn unemployment for the first and only time since while he searched for the right fit.
On Friday, April 8, Jim was rushed to the emergency room with acute congestive heart failure. Several days and tests later, we know he has several blockages on the left side of his heart and will need at minimum a triple bypass surgery. He has also had a series of small strokes over the last week and bypass surgery cannot be performed safely at this time. In addition, Jim took a turn for the worse today and is back in the ICU. He will be sedated and on a ventilator until Monday, when he will have a test to determine next steps. If it is safe, he will be woken up to work on his strength, with the goal of performing the bypass in the next several weeks.
I will be helping Kim to file for disability on Jim’s behalf. However, qualifying for disability can take a minimum of six months and as long as several years. Until that time, Kim will manage their household on a single income, as Jim will immediately lose unemployment benefits. I started this campaign to give back to the two people who have given so much to me over the last 25 years, and who have given so much to many lives they have touched.
My goal is to replace Jim’s unemployment benefit at a minimum and give Kimmie one less thing to worry about at this incredibly difficult time. If you are able to do so, please consider giving to this amazing couple. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you in advance for your support.
