On October 5, 2025, tragedy struck our community in the most unimaginable way. A devastating house fire claimed the lives of Steve and Ashley Williams, leaving behind their two young daughters — just 3 and 8 years old — both hospitalized, one in critical condition.
In a single night, these beautiful little girls lost their parents, their home, their beloved dog Duke, and every belonging they owned. They are now orphaned and facing a long and uncertain road to recovery and healing.
The First In Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting first responders and their families in times of crisis, has established this fundraiser to help provide both immediate relief and long-term stability for the girls.
All funds raised will directly benefit the girls once legal guardianship is established. The First In Foundation will serve as the steward of all donations and will ensure that every dollar is distributed appropriately on their behalf.
The girls' Uncle Dwayne is a Life Member of the East Rivanna Volunteer Fire Company, where the Williams family has deep roots and a proud history of service to the community.
Donations will be used to cover:
Funeral and burial expenses for Steve and Ashley
Medical care and recovery costs for the girls
Clothing, school supplies, and basic necessities lost in the fire
Counseling and long-term living expenses as they adjust to a new home and future
The East Rivanna Volunteer Fire Company and the entire Central Virginia fire-rescue community stand united behind the Williams family and these two young girls. This is a moment for all of us to show the strength of our compassion and solidarity.
Every contribution — no matter the size — makes a difference. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign to help us reach as many people as possible.
Thank you for your generosity, prayers, and kindness during this heartbreaking time.
With gratitude,
The First In Foundation
