Support the Williams Family's Toxic Mold Recovery

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Dani. I’m good friends with Ken and Tiffany Williams and their family. I asked Tiffany to write something up to let trusted friends (like you!) know how we can help them as they heal from toxic mold exposure.

FROM TIFFANY:

Dear friends,

Our family is facing difficult, even heartbreaking, circumstances after being exposed to toxic mold in our current home. The mold has wreaked havoc on our (mostly Ken’s) health, and while we’re grateful to be under excellent medical care, we are facing huge expenses as we have to leave our home and start over. You may not know that this is the 2nd time in 7 years that we’ve faced these same circumstances (moving and getting rid of most of our stuff), so the financial burden has been overwhelming.

Both Ken and I were diagnosed with CIRS in 2017, a condition characterized by a prolonged and systemic inflammatory response triggered by exposure to bio-toxins. While we made a huge recovery after leaving a toxic environment 7 years ago, in the past year or two, Ken’s health has plummeted again, so our specialist doctor began to wonder if we were dealing with toxic mold exposure again.

Several nights a week, Ken feels tortured as he tries to sleep while experiencing his throat closing off over and over (despite breathing with the assistance of a CPAP machine). His food allergies have greatly increased and he can’t eat most foods. Ken has also even experienced some mental confusion and memory challenges at times. He also has been unable to recover from infections and more. Ken has continued to work hard and stay optimistic, but, as you can imagine, these symptoms have made life difficult and expensive. We believe two of our children have also developed some concerning symptoms this past year as a result of the mold exposure, and I have had a number of symptoms as well.

Our specialist recently ordered a mold test of our home, in addition to two other extensive bio-toxin tests, and the levels of toxins were alarmingly high.

So, our doctor told us we have to get out of our home and get rid of most of our belongings. We can keep clothes, dishes, and most items made of wood, plastic, or metal, but we’ll have to get rid of anything that can’t be adequately cleaned of bio-toxins: couches, chairs, decor, mattresses, art supplies, pillows, the piano, rugs, bard games, coats, suitcases, Christmas decor, plants, and other items. We also have to move ASAP.

Some may see this as an extreme approach, but we are under excellent medical care and this approach worked for us before. Also, most people are not nearly as sensitive to bio-toxins as Ken and I are because of our diagnosis of CIRS, so we do have to take extra precautions.

You can imagine how difficult it is to part with so many of our treasured things—items that have associated stories. Many items are irreplaceable. Our kids are resilient but we’re all feeling the losses. But, the biggest stressor is the cost to replace even necessary items, especially on top of all the other expenses incurred as you move into a new home.

Thank you all for your support!

Tiffany

FROM DANI:

::IMPORTANT:: The Williams family is under the amazing care of a specialist, so they don’t need medical advice or suggestions of different ways of cleaning or remediating mold. Suggestions like that are well-meaning but aren’t helpful at this time.

Their greatest need is finances to be able to replace all of their beloved items that they had to get rid of in order to move into a clean environment that is conducive to heal. This has been a heartbreaking and financially draining process for them. Would you consider giving to this cause? They cannot take donated items as they have to be very careful in what they have coming into their new home so that they are not re-exposed to mold, donating finances is the best way to support them right now!

We all know the Willams family to be supportive, kind, caring, and proactively in people's lives. Ken has grown an incredible ministry helping people in their times of struggles and Tiffany has been along side him supporting people, opening up their home to those who need a safe and loving place. This family is so wonderful and having already had to walk through this once on their own, let's help them this time by being there for them in an area that is a large need! Thank you!
