Support the widow and children of Carl Grizovic

On the night of October 13, a fire broke out in Carl Grizovic's barn. Unfortunately, Carl and two of his young daughters were in the barn at the time and perished in the blaze. Carl's wife Amy and three of their children remain. Needless to say, they are sorting through the grief and the practical difficulties of this crushing tragedy.

This fund exists to allow people to contribute to the Grizovic family as they try to recover from this devastating event. Anyone who has ever lost a loved one knows how terrible it is to deal with finances and paperwork during a time of grief. The Grizovic's friends and family are trying to lift as much of that burden off of Amy and the kids as possible. Your contribution to this fund will help Amy with final expenses and recovery from this overwhelming loss. All funds raised will be delivered to Amy by November 1. You can see the news on the event here and here .

More Of The Story:
Carl was a dear friend to me and to many others. I've known Carl and his family for almost 8 years. The Grizovic family was one of the first families we met when we moved to the Cincinnati area. Our two families formed an instant connection. Within days of moving to Cincinnati, our family was gathering with the Grizovic family and other families for prayer and fellowship. Over the years, we camped together, and helped each other plant gardens and raise animals. We supported one another through the births of children, moving to new houses, hardships in business and family. We've celebrated holidays together and taken trips together. We created many cherished memories together.

They say you don't know what you have until it's gone. Now that Carl is gone, I'm able to see more clearly what I had in my friendship with him. He was a devoted disciple of Jesus, and he encouraged me greatly in my own discipleship. He was a man who studied the Scriptures, and I sorely miss our times of discussing the Scriptures together. He was a devoted husband and father who encouraged me to strive for more in my role as a husband and father as well. Carl was a fellow adventurer who helped me discover the wonders of the Red River Gorge and the Appalachian Trail.

Carl was many things to many people. I know there are many people out there who are following Jesus today because of Carl's impact in his skateboarding ministry and youth ministry years ago. I know that there are many men who are better husbands and better fathers today because Carl challenged them. I know that there are many aimless wanderers who found work and purpose in Carl's business. I know that there are many who became complacent in their faith, but Carl spurred them on toward love and good works.

Carl's two oldest daughters were with him when the fire occurred. Like their father, they were cherished by many. My daughters frequently exchanged handwritten letters with Carl's daughters. My children and Carl's children have been on camping trips together, rode ponies and 4 wheelers together, watched movies together, swam in the creek together, played, frolicked and laughed together. We grieve the loss of these precious daughters as intensely as we grieve the loss of their father. These beautiful lives were cut too short. This is a tragedy we will never make peace with. These sweet girls were lights in this world. They were snuffed out too soon, and the world is darker for it.
