For 63 years, the Werribee District Historical Society Inc. (WDHS) has been dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich and prolific history of Wyndham. As part of this journey, WDHS opened the Werribee Museum in 1989 within the Old Shire Office at 49 Watton St, Werribee. Throughout its 36 years at this location, and operated solely by dedicated volunteers as a not for profit organisation, the museum has welcomed thousands of visitors from all over the world and has been an integral and much-loved asset within our community for many decades.

Sadly, we now need to leave our longtime home. We were recently given notice to vacate the Old Shire Office by the Wyndham City Council. We need to vacate over the coming weeks, which means packing and moving an entire museum and taking it with us.

Whilst this has presented WDHS with a significant challenge, we are thrilled to announce that we have secured a new home! Our new location will allow us to continue our mission of celebrating, preserving and sharing Wyndham's incredible history with the local community - and our many visitors from all over the country and the world - for years to come.

However, as a not for profit organisation operated by a small number of volunteers, the process of moving an entire museum is both a logistical challenge and a significant financial undertaking. We really need your help to get us safely moved and settled into our new home. Your kind donation will directly support essential tasks to ensure the safety and integrity of our collection and a smooth transition. These include:

New flooring to protect and preserve our artifacts

Pest control to safeguard against damage from moths, silverfish, and other pests

Archival and moving supplies to carefully pack our collection

Professional removalists to ensure our items are transported safely and securely

While our new rental agreement is more than fair, the added expense of moving makes it difficult for us to get established without help. Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a huge difference and help us start fresh in our new location. With your support, we can create an even better museum experience for the community.
