Who I am / Where I'm From / Relationship: Hi, my name is Kate Janich. I live in the Mantua neighborhood in Fairfax, Virginia. I am neighbor and friend to Krista Wendle, her husband Jason, and kids Jonah, Ezra, and Anastasia.

This GoFundMe is being coordinated by a group of the Wendle family's friends and neighbors.

On Sunday evening, during the snowstorm, a large tree fell onto the Wendle family’s house, causing significant damage to their home and car. Thankfully everyone is safe, but the house is currently uninhabitable and the family is temporarily displaced while they navigate the process of cleanup and rebuilding.

They just learned they will not be able to move back into their house for at least 10 months , and they are looking for a home to rent in our neighborhood.

How the Funds Will Be Spent: Because the extent of damage to their home is so severe, they will need to purchase many things -- household items galore and many other unexpected expenses. Insurance will cover much but will leave gaps.

This is where we come in as her neighbors -- and where our cash donations can help. They welcome questions around costs, etc.

Anyone who knows the Wendles has experienced their love, community leadership, hospitality, and extraordinary generosity. Now we have an opportunity to show them just how much they are loved by surrounding them with support during this difficult season.

As Krista and family’s Mantua neighbors, we want to give back to them, just the way we know they would for any of us.
