As many of you know, our family is built on deep love, togetherness, and community. We love our children with a burning passion, and we cherish their friends as if they were our own. Our home was always full of laughter, noise, and life—surrounded by a big posse of kids who grew up side by side, bonded like siblings.

On January 11, 2026, the unimaginable nightmare that every parent fears became our reality. In a tragic accident, we lost our oldest son, George Watts, and his best friend, Derrick Hubbard. These two boys shared a bond that went beyond friendship—they were inseparable, full of life, curiosity, and dreams for the future.

While playing together, the boys dug a tunnel in sugar sand and were inside when it suddenly collapsed. In an instant, our world was shattered. What should have been another day of childhood adventure turned into a heartbreaking loss that no parent should ever have to endure. Our precious boys were taken from us far too soon.

Our family is now navigating an overwhelming amount of grief, shock, and emotional pain while also facing unexpected expenses related to emergency response, medical care, funeral arrangements, and the many financial burdens that come with such a sudden tragedy.

We are sharing our story not only to honor George and Derrick, but to ask for support during this devastating time.
