My name is Lacy and I have been a friend to Vickie and Jake for quite a long time. My family and I were very sad when they moved out of the Cedar Valley because we had shared many adventures and family game nights with them. The Pliner family has recently hit a rough spot with Vickie being hospitalized since early July. I am organizing this fundraiser to relieve some of the financial burden a family may experience when a loved one is sick. The money will be used to help the family with medicals bills, missed pay due to medical leave, travel expenses, or anything else the Pliner's two young children may need during this time.
Vickie has been in the hospital since 7/3. She was admitted with very low sodium and after being evaluated she was moved to the ICU so they could monitor and bring her sodium back up. While there she had an uncommon and negative reaction that resulted in her moving into a kind of catatonic state. The doctors believe it is something called osmotic demyelination syndrome
As of right now she will look around the room but not at anyone for very long. She is also unable to move anything consciously. Unfortunately because this is an issue with the connectivity in her brain there is no way to tell how much she may recover. Doctors are hopeful only because she was young and her health was good.
Vickie has always been a very private person and her family wanted to preserve that for as long as possible. I know that Vickie, out of modesty, would not be happy that I was putting her in the spotlight or that I was publicly asking her friend and family community for support. Yet, I know that Vickie and her family will greatly appreciate any support that is given
If there are any major updates or changes the family or I will post them here.
The family wanted to say thank you to everyone that has heard and already reached out to offer help and support.
