The Ulichnie Family

January 15th John woke up in the middle of the night with abdominal pain, he was taken to the ER and underwent surgery around 2am for a ruptured ulcer.  During the hospitalized recovery period, John’s heart went into an arrythmia that sent him to the ICU. The following day, he had to be intubated due to respiratory and cardiac distress stemming from underlying infections that required another surgery. He has since then been on the ventilator and after multiple attempts by the pulmonogy team, he has not been able to come off of it. He’s scheduled to receive a tracheostomy on Monday, as they have not been able to find the cause of his complications.
Through all of this, April has been a rock, picking up the finances, the decisions, taking on more work to make ends meet after losing her husbands income, keeping the children happy and occupied, all while making trips to and from the hospital multiple times a day. The emotional strain she has endured is only added to by the financial strain of a household with three children that don’t know when they will see their father again. As if all of this wasn’t enough, John doesn’t have heath insurance. Even when/if John is able to come off the ventilator, he will be looking at months of rehab.
April herself would never ask for help, but she is always the first to offer it. Please consider giving to this incredible family to help her through this impossible time.
