In the face of adversity, we continue to fly.
This summer, the Ukrainian flag will fly above the airfield in Ostrów Wielkopolski, Poland, during the 24th European Gliding Championship (EGC). We are raising funds to support our national pilots, Olena Yakymchuk and Andrii Lohvynchuk, as they represent Ukraine on the international stage.
Meet the Pilots
• Olena Yakymchuk: An experienced international competitor and a pillar of the Ukrainian gliding community. Olena has represented Ukraine at the Women’s World Gliding Championships (WWGC) in 2022, 2023, and 2025.
• Andrii Lohvynchuk: A rising star in gliding, who continues to fly despite the total loss of his glider, which was destroyed by Russian forces in a strike on the airfield. His participation is a powerful symbol of our nation’s resilience.
The Goal: €3,000
We’re raising funds to cover the basic costs needed to take part in the championship:
- Entry fees for the competition
- Aerotow launches for training and race days
Why This Matters
For our pilots, this isn’t just another sporting event – it is a testament to resilience. At a time when the whole country, and Ukrainian aviation in particular, face immense challenges, seeing Olena and Andrii in the sky alongside Europe’s best means a lot – and sends a clear message of strength and continuity.
How You Can Help
