Dear Friends of Jamaica and Tryall,

As most of you know, Jamaica, and specifically The Tryall Club, has a special place in my heart. Our family has traveled there every year for the last 20 years and spent many happy weeks enjoying time there together. Of course, what makes Tryall special is not the beach, the food, the golf or the tennis – but the staff that works there and the spirit they infuse into all of our family vacations. Working at Tryall is often a job for life, so many of the Tryall employees have watched our children grow up, gotten to know my parents and my friends, and have helped create some of our most treasured family memories. So, in the wake of last week’s hurricane, it gives me tremendous heartache to witness these friends in crisis.

While all Tryall employees are, thankfully, reported safe, many have suffered damage to their homes and property, and I would love to be able to help them - and repay some of the kindness they have shown me and my family for as long as we’ve known them. I know many of you who have been to Tryall and Jamaica over the years feel the same way that I do about this place and have asked how to help.

My first suggestion is to make a contribution to the Tryall Fund, a fund for Tryall employees and surrounding communities in the Hanover area. Please go to www.tryallfund.org. The funds will go specifically to those most impacted by Melissa. However, for those of you who would like to contribute directly to a particular villa or staff member, I am creating this gofundme effort to act as a conduit to get donor dollars in the direct hands of those you would like to support.

Please make your donation and then send me a message through the gofundme app (or via email or text) indicating where you would like your funds directed. For those who wish to direct funds to a specific villa, I will deliver to the Head of House and allow them to distribute according to the historical tip distributions. I plan to bring these donations with me on upcoming trips to Montego Bay (within the legal requirements). For residual funds not directed to specific villas, I will make sure they are distributed broadly but directly to Tryall employees - including but not limited to the golf caddies, the tennis pros, the reservations team, the babysitters, the kitchen staff, and the administrative staff. Given the scope of the destruction on the island, every donation makes a meaningful impact.

Thank you for your generosity,
Jenny Wood

PS On a personal note, I should mention that I find myself in an awkward moment having had a first row seat to two natural disasters in less than one year. As many of you know, I launched a similar effort for Cane River Valley in Western North Carolina last year following the destruction unleashed by Hurricane Helene. Of course, I am hesitant to launch another gofundme – but in the end I felt it was the right thing to do and so many of you were asking how to help.

Finally – It is important to state but goes without saying – I will not direct any of the funds to Windrush Villa staff unless specifically directed and of course will not receive any personal benefit from this fundraise.
