Fire Disaster Relief for Tracy Family

Hi Carmel Valley Friends and Neighbors,

As many have heard, a week ago on August 1st, during a large apartment fire in Carmel Valley, four families were destroyed or severely damaged, and all four families were displaced from their homes.

One of the families, Leslie and Jason Tracy and their daughter Lauren’s home was one of those apartments, and was severely damaged. Until earlier this week, there was a hope that the damage might not have been severe, or that they might return to their apartment. However, earlier this week, the Tracy’s were informed that the damage to their apartment and belongings was extensive, causing irreparable damage to many of their belongings, as well as the apartment itself. All soft items such as their beds, bedding, couches and clothing, and other permeable items are unsalvageable due to smoke, water and toxic chemical contamination. They have some rental insurance, as well as a bit of initial assistance via the Red Cross, but this is not enough to help them get back on their feet, as Leslie is the only one currently working and Jason recently medically retired.

Jason, Leslie and Lauren now find themselves trying to find a new apartment as well as needing to replace what was lost in the fire. The Tracy’s are a wonderful, giving family, who have always been active and caring members of our community. Please help if you can.
