Support The Toy library!

My name is Giorgia and I'm the founder of The Toy Library (CLG), the first Digital Toy Library in Ireland.

The Toy Library is a peer 2 peer (p2p) giving platform, specifically for toys. Users are able to:

1) Upload a photo of the item they wish to give, with a short description;

2) Browse the “library” of toys available for collection;

3) Select a toy and arrange a collection.

We built The Toy Library for a variety of reasons, and here's a few:

1) 9 in 10 toys are made of plastic;

2) Plastic is really difficult to recycle;

3) The Toy industry is the most plastic intensive industry in the world.

4) We live in a world with abundant resources: we need to do a better job at sharing what we already have, before extracting more resources from our Mother Nature.

5) We need to teach our children to take good care of their toys, and give them away when no longer needed.

6) We need to remind ourselves that resources aren't really "ours": they should be respected and shared.

Now, The Toy Library is live, and the reality of the costs related to running a Social Enterprise have hit; we have been so lucky to have many people volunteer their time and knowledge to create this project, but this isn't sustainable in the long term.

We believe that The Toy Library model could be applicable well beyond the boundaries of our country. Imagine the impact we can bring to the world, if citizens of the world, no matter where they are, know that their children can get the toys they want and need, for free, from another family!

Imagine the impact of decreasing the amount of resources we consume, while increasing the amount of joy we give to our children.
