Tibetan Unity Cup 2026 – More Than a Tournament

The Tibetan Unity Cup is the premier sporting event for young Tibetans living in Australia. The annual tournament is a vital gathering that brings Tibetan youth together from across the country to reconnect with their cultural roots, build lasting friendships, and strengthen social bonds through sport and cultural connection.

This year, we celebrate the Year of Compassion, dedicated to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and his lifelong commitment to compassion, non-violence, and world peace.

Tibetan youth will represent their local communities from NSW, QLD, VIC and the ACT to compete in soccer and basketball tournaments. The tournament also plays an important role in uplifting and empowering Tibetan girls, providing them with a dedicated platform to compete in the women’s basketball tournament.

The 2026 Tibet Unity Cup, to be held in Newcastle from 9–12 April 2026, will be entirely organised by volunteers from the Tibetan Community of Newcastle and relies on community donations to make it possible. We are seeking financial support to help cover major costs, including soccer field and basketball court hire, qualified match officials, and essential safety and event expenses, to ensure a successful and well-run tournament.

Donors and community supporters are warmly invited to attend the tournament, watch matches, and participate in the opening and closing ceremonies.
